Where to Find Community Vegetable Garden Space

If you want to grow your own vegetables but don’t have available garden space, a community garden might be a great alternative. Community Gardens are usually underdeveloped pieces of city-owned land that have been converted to vegetable gardens.

Some Community Gardens work as a cooperative where everyone chips in to help, and then split the vegetables at harvest time. Other community gardens allot people a certain amount of land to grow whatever vegetables they wish. Community gardens run by charities and churches are usually free to use; city owned and private gardens may ask for a small fee to cover the cost of water and electricity.
